A new five-island destination is being introduced by Nakheel – the Dubai Islands

 The Dubai master-developer has repurposed the ‘Deira Islands’ project into a cluster of five islands covering 17 square kilometres. The new destination will be called ‘Dubai Islands’, as the developer doubles down on the Dubai branding.

As part of Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, the project will ‘enhance the emirate’s position as a global destination of choice’.

A total of 80 resorts and hotels will be located on each island. Naaman Atallah, CEO at Nakheel, commented: “Dubai Islands are an integral part of the future vision for the emirate, enhancing the health, happiness and wellbeing of residents and visitors, as well as providing a wide range of urban infrastructure and amenities.

Dubai Islands will add to Nakheel’s portfolio of residential, retail, hospitality, and leisure developments.

This is also Nakheel’s largest project announcement since 2019-20, when it concentrated on delivering announced projects. The projects included a supersized mall on the Palm, as well as high-end villa developments throughout Dubai.

A couple of resorts had opened on Deira Islands in the earlier version. Multiple high-rises were planned for residential use in that masteHowever, these were designed for leasing.market.

There will be over 20 km of beaches in the ‘Dubai Islands’ avatar, including a ‘Blue Flag’ certified beach, approximately 2 km of parks, and premium golf courses overlooking the Gulf.

There will be more public parks and beaches on Dubai Islands.

The Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan supports the development of vibrant and healthy communities by providing a network of marinas promenades and pathways for water and road transportation, walking and biking.
